Create and publish a page

Make a link page, understand its short link and its Draft/Live/Offline states, publish and unpublish it, and share it by link or QR code.

A Smartlinks page is one public address holding one set of links. You create it, edit it as a draft for as long as you like, and publish when it’s ready — publishing is the only moment the public page changes.

This page covers the lifecycle: creating, the short link, autosave, the three states, publishing and unpublishing, and getting the link into the world. What actually goes on the page is covered in Links and actions.

Create a page

You need the manage permission (the Admin or Manager role) to create a page.

In the editor, use the page picker in the top-right and press New page. If your tenant has no pages yet, you’ll see an empty state with Create a link page instead.
Fill in Page name — this is how the page is labelled in the editor, and it also seeds the name shown at the top of the public page.
Optionally fill in Custom link — the last part of the public address. Use lowercase letters, numbers and single hyphens, for example main-menu. Leave it blank and one is generated from the page name.
Press Create page.

The new page opens as a draft. Everything you entered here can be changed later from the Design tab.

The short link

The last part of the address — the slug — is unique across the whole of Maska, so no two businesses can ever hold the same one. If the one you want is already taken, the create form tells you and you pick another.

Slugs are also never recycled. Once a page has claimed one, it stays claimed even if the page is taken offline — so an old QR sticker can never quietly start pointing at a stranger’s page.

If a page’s slug is ever changed, the old path keeps working permanently: it redirects to the new one rather than breaking. Printed menus, table tents and signage you’ve already put out stay valid.

The full public URL sits in the editor’s top bar as a pill. Select it to open the live page in a new tab.

Binding a page to an outlet

A page can be tied to one of your Maska outlets. Today that binding does exactly one thing — it prefills the page name from the outlet’s name when the page is created. It does not scope the links, the menu or the analytics to that outlet, and it does not change the timezone used for schedules or reports (see Analytics).

Draft, Live and Offline

The pill at the far left of the top bar tells you what the public sees:

Pill	What it means
Draft	The page has never been published. Nothing is public yet — the address returns nothing to a guest.
Live	A published version is public. Your unpublished edits are not — they go live only on the next Publish.
Offline	The page was published and then unpublished. Guests see nothing, but the document, the slug, the analytics and the email signups are all kept.

The page picker uses the same states with one wording difference — an offline page is listed there as Archived.

Autosave and the conflict notice

You never press Save. About a second after you stop typing, the draft is written for you, and the top bar reports what happened:

Saving… — the write is in flight.
Saved · just now — it landed. The timestamp ages to 3m ago, 1h ago and so on.
Couldn’t save — retry — the write failed. Select it to try again; nothing you typed is lost in the meantime.
Edited elsewhere — reload — someone else (or you, in another tab) saved a newer version of this draft. Reload the page to pick up their version. Smartlinks will not silently overwrite one person’s work with another’s.

Publish

Publish takes your current draft and makes it the public page. It saves any pending edit first, so you never publish a stale version.

Three things have to be true before the button is available:

You hold the manage permission.
Your Smartlinks subscription is active — during a grace period you can keep editing but not publish. See Users and access.
The draft is complete. Every link, every one-tap action and the Featured card needs a title and a destination that is an https, mailto or tel address. A half-finished row is the usual reason Publish stays greyed out — open it with the pencil and look for the inline error.

Once a page is live the button reads Republish, and does the same thing: pushes the current draft over the public version.

Unpublish and republish

Unpublish takes a live page offline. Guests get nothing at the address, but nothing is destroyed — the document, the slug, the analytics history and every captured email address stay exactly as they were. The status pill moves to Offline.

To bring it back, press Republish. There is no separate restore step.

Three sharing tools sit in the top bar:

Copy link copies the full public URL to your clipboard and confirms with Copied.
QR opens a dialog with a scannable code for the page and a Download PNG button. The PNG is a lossless export sized for print — use it on table tents, menus, window decals and posters.
The URL pill itself opens the live page in a new tab, so you can check it as a guest would see it.

The QR encodes the page address exactly, so a code you printed keeps working through slug renames and through an unpublish-and-republish cycle.
