Your day in Operate

The Today board, completing checklist tasks with evidence, and amending a submitted task.

The Today board is the first thing you see when you open Operate as a staff member. It lists every checklist your outlet must complete today, grouped by phase — Opening, Mid-day, and Closing — plus any one-off items scheduled for the day. Work top to bottom: every task is required.

Reading the Today board

At the top is a dark overall progress card — how many tasks are done across all of today’s checklists, with a percentage. Below it, checklists appear as cards under their phase heading (each heading shows the phase deadline, e.g. Opening · by 09).

Each checklist card shows:

  • The checklist name, with a line like By 09 · 12 items · all required.
  • A progress count and how many tasks are left (“4 to go”).
  • A green Done pill once every task is complete.
  • A red warning ring and a priority pill if the checklist has been escalated to a manager — those need attention first.

Deadline labels

Until a checklist is done, its card shows a live countdown against the deadline:

  • “36 MINS LEFT” — on time. Nothing to worry about.
  • “12 MINS LATE” — the deadline has passed. Finish as soon as you can.
  • “40 MINS OVER” — more than 15 minutes past the deadline; the card turns red. Work left overdue raises an escalation to your managers — after 30 minutes by default — so don’t leave a late checklist sitting.

Opening a checklist

Tap a card to open the checklist. The top of the page shows a big done / total count, a progress gauge, and the time window. Tasks are grouped into collapsible sections — tap a section header to fold or unfold it; each header shows its own done count.

Each task row shows:

  • The task title, with a REQ marker on required tasks.
  • Small chips showing what evidence the task needs (photo, reading, and so on).
  • Once done: a tick, plus a stamp of who completed it and at what time — e.g. DONE · Priya · 08.

Completing a task

Tapping a task opens the task sheet from the bottom of the screen. It renders whatever fields the task was built with — a photo, a set of subtasks to tick off, a numeric reading, a dropdown choice, a multi-select, a confirmation toggle, or a text note. There’s also an optional Note box (“Anything the manager should know?”) on every task.

The Mark done button stays locked until every required field is filled — it reads “Finish required fields to mark done” until then. If you’re offline it reads “Offline — reconnect to mark done”; wait for signal and try again.

If submitting fails, the sheet stays open so you can retry — nothing you entered is lost.

Photos are camera-only

Photo evidence must be taken live, on the spot. Tapping a photo field opens a full-screen camera viewfinder (rear camera):

  1. Frame the shot and tap the shutter button.
  2. Review the still, then tap Use photo to attach it — or Retake to try again.

Note: there is deliberately no gallery or file upload, on any device. This is what makes photo evidence trustworthy — it proves the photo was taken now, at the outlet.

If you see “Camera access needed”, your browser has blocked camera permission. Allow camera access for the app in your browser settings, then tap Try again.

Amending a submitted task

Made a mistake? Tap a done task and it opens in review mode, showing exactly what was submitted. Tap Amend to edit — the form reopens pre-filled with the earlier values — then tap Resubmit.

Note: resubmitting logs a correction; your first entry is kept on record. Very old photo submissions occasionally can’t be matched back to their sections — if you see a re-capture notice, take those photos again before resubmitting.

Scheduled today

Below the checklists, a Scheduled today list collects one-off items that fall on today:

  • Recurring tasks (e.g. a weekly deep clean) sit right on the board with a Mark done button — no checklist to open.
  • Log call-outs take you to the Logs tab.
  • Maintenance and ticket call-outs take you to the Maintenance tab — see Maintenance and tickets.

The Me tab

The Me tab is your profile: your name, role, outlet, and contact details, all read from your Maska account. From here you can also:

  • Tap Take the tour again to replay the onboarding walkthrough.
  • Tap Log out to sign out of Operate on this device.
