Oye Basanti — the assistant
Ask plain-language questions and get answers straight from your live numbers.
Oye Basanti is the built-in assistant that answers questions about your business from its live data — stock, requests, orders, variances, vendors and recipe costs. Tap the gold Basanti mark, ask in plain language, and she reads the numbers and replies.
Where to find her
- On the console (owners, managers, chefs) — the gold floating button in the bottom-right corner.
- On the outlet phone app — the gold floating button just above the bottom navigation. It tucks away while an action bar (like an order summary) is on screen, and comes back after.
Everyone who can sign in to the app can use her — but she only answers about what your own role is allowed to see.
What you can ask
- “What’s low on stock?”
- “Which purchase requests are pending?”
- “What came up short last week?”
- “Show me open purchase orders.”
Type your question and press Enter to send (Shift+Enter for a new line). Each question stands alone — she doesn’t remember the earlier conversation — so put the detail into the question itself (“wastage at Koramangala this week”, not “and there?”). If she says she couldn’t fully resolve something, try a narrower question.
She answers from what’s true right now — never invented figures — and names the actual items and numbers behind the answer.
What she can’t do
Warning: Basanti is read-only. She can look things up and explain them, but she can’t change anything — no creating, editing, approving or deleting. Those stay in your hands on the normal screens.
Your monthly allowance
Every answer draws on your workspace’s monthly AI allowance — the same allowance shared by all of Basanti’s features: the assistant, bulk onboarding and recipe reading. A line under the message box shows how much of this month’s allowance is used.
When the allowance is used up, the assistant pauses and the panel says the monthly AI limit is reached — it resets on the 1st. Every normal screen keeps working as usual; only the AI features wait. If you need more before the reset, contact Maska.
If the assistant isn’t available
The assistant has to be enabled for your workspace. If it isn’t configured yet, asking a question simply returns a message saying so — the rest of the app is unaffected. Contact Maska support to switch it on.
