Analytics
Read your page's views, clicks, sources, devices and per-link performance — and understand exactly what Smartlinks does and does not collect.
The Analytics tab answers two questions: is the page being opened, and is anything on it being tapped. Every figure is computed from real events for the range you’ve picked — nothing here is estimated or modelled.
It is also deliberately thin on personal data. Smartlinks records no IP addresses, sets no cookies and does no fingerprinting, so what you get is honest counts rather than profiles of individual guests.
Choosing a range
The control at the top switches between 24h, 7 days and 30 days. Seven days is where the tab opens. Everything below — cards, chart, breakdowns and the link table — recomputes for whichever range is selected, and every card compares that range against the equal period immediately before it.
The four headline cards
| Card | What it counts |
|---|---|
| Page views | Times your page was opened in the range. Repeat visits each count. |
| Link clicks | Total taps on any link, button or action on the page. |
| Email signups | People who submitted your capture form in the range. |
| Click-through | Clicks divided by views. |
Each card carries a small arrow and percentage — up in mint, down in chilli, flat in grey — read as versus the previous period. A 7-day view compares against the 7 days before it.
Click-through can exceed 100%, and that is not a bug: one visitor may open the page once and tap four things. Treat it as taps per visit rather than a share of visitors.
Every card has a small information icon beside its label with the same definition, so you never have to remember which is which.
Views vs clicks
Under the cards, Views vs clicks plots the two headline numbers across the range as paired bars — dark for views, butter for clicks. Hovering a bucket shows its exact figures. It’s the fastest way to spot the day a post landed, or the week a QR code started getting scanned.
Traffic sources
Traffic sources groups your page views into seven coarse buckets, each with its share of views:
| Source | What lands here |
|---|---|
| Direct / typed | Someone typed or pasted the link, or came from somewhere that sends no referrer. |
| QR code | A scan of a tagged QR link. |
| Search | A search engine. |
| Social | A social network. |
| Messaging | A messaging app. |
| A mail client or webmail. | |
| Other | Anything recognised but not in the list above. |
QR code and Email are the two special cases. A QR scan carries no
referrer at all, and mail apps strip theirs — so neither can be observed
directly. Smartlinks infers them from a campaign marker in the URL you shared:
add ?utm_source=qr to the link behind a printed code, or utm_medium=email
to the link in a newsletter, and those visits land in the right bucket. An
untagged QR code still works perfectly; its scans simply count as Direct /
typed.
Devices
Devices splits views into Mobile, Tablet, Desktop and Other, each with a share bar. It is derived from the browser at the moment of the visit and then discarded — the raw browser string is never stored.
The best-hour insight
When there’s enough activity, a highlighted line tells you the hour your page gets the most attention, and suggests sharing fresh links just before it. It’s a scheduling hint for your posts, nothing more — it doesn’t change anything on the page.
Performance by link
The table at the bottom ranks everything guests actually tapped, busiest first:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Link | The item’s title, resolved from your current page. |
| Clicks | Taps in the range. |
| CTR | Those clicks as a share of page views. |
| Trend | Change versus the equal previous window. |
| Share | That item’s share of all clicks, as a bar. |
Deleted items don’t vanish from history — a link you removed still appears with its clicks, labelled by what kind of item it was, so a past week’s numbers always add up.
Note: the two app tiles — Reservations and Menu — send guests straight out to the address you supplied, so their taps are not counted here. Everything else is: the Featured card, one-tap actions, links and shop products with a buy link. See Links and actions.
Exporting your signups
CSV export, at the top-right of the tab, downloads every email address captured by this page — oldest first, with the address, the moment consent was given, and the moment it was captured. It needs the manage permission, so a reporting-only user won’t see the button. See Email capture.
Times, retention and privacy
All times are India Standard Time. The range boundaries, the chart’s buckets and the best-hour insight are all read in IST, whatever timezone the person looking at the tab is in, and whatever outlet the page is bound to.
Raw event detail is kept for 90 days. After that, events are folded into hourly totals per page and the individual rows are deleted. Your long-run counts survive; the underlying detail does not linger.
What is never collected, at any point:
- IP addresses.
- Cookies of any kind — the public page sets none.
- Device fingerprints.
- The raw referring URL. Only the coarse category in the table above is kept.
- The raw browser string. Only the coarse device class is kept.
- Anything that ties one view to another, or a view to a person.
That is a deliberate floor, not a setting — there is nothing to turn on that would collect more.
